This is a great little essay. Indeed the shame in Catholicism lost most of the modern population, its outdated and weaponized mechanics stopped offerimg hope for change. We all stopped going to mass when I was 17 after listening to a rant from the priest about purity of blood on an easter first communion and frankly I never looked back. Demons are real, the older I am the more convinced that it's not just humans who live on this plane. But to keep them out is through concerted teachings about growth and goodness- not shame and pain and authority. Connecting with faith through Hinduism was my first glimpse at what Catholicism probably was- a connection to the divine, a pathway for absolution, standards for enablement. Wild, that something even more ancient showed me a path to freedom.
